The YMCA of Greater Brandywine’s Upper Main Line facility in Berwyn, Pennsylvania expanded its aquatic offerings in 2016 with a 3,217 square foot indoor pool that seamlessly integrates lap swimming and leisure activities. Designed by Innovative Aquatic Design, LLC, this dual-purpose facility serves the Main Line’s active community with the flexibility to accommodate serious swimmers alongside families seeking recreational water time—all within a single, efficiently designed pool.
The combined lap and leisure pool design reflects thoughtful space optimization for an established YMCA navigating the realities of limited building footprints in the densely developed Main Line corridor. Main Line Commercial Pools delivered a facility that maximizes programming versatility without sacrificing the water quality and operational reliability that YMCA members expect. The result is an indoor aquatic center that supports year-round swim teams, senior water aerobics classes, youth swim lessons, family swim times, and therapeutic aquatics—proving that smart design can serve diverse community needs even within space constraints. This project reinforces our deep understanding of YMCA operations and the multi-generational programming that defines these essential community institutions.
